Art Goes On :: June Update

Dear Friends of Chapel Street Players:

It is hard to believe that June has begun and soon the official start of summer. We hope that you and your loved ones have been safe and healthy in these last couple of months, and will continue to be safe as Delaware re-opens in Phase 1. If you have read the guidelines for the performing arts and their venues, specifically details about audience and volunteer social distancing, you will know that opening our small theater space for a show is still not possible.

Our leadership will continue to monitor state recommendations and guidance. We are committed to making the decision to re-open at a future time when the risk to both our patrons and our volunteers is lessened and when it is financially viable to be positioned to earn sufficient revenue to cover the costs of staging a production. We want to thank the Delaware Division of the Arts, the Delaware Arts Alliance, the DE Small Business group, the Newark Partnership, and the Governor’s Office for continuing to provide valuable information and ongoing support during the complications of COVID-19.

Our doors may be closed for now, but we want to continue providing our CSP fans and family with some virtual entertainment! A few of our board members have been posting comedy bits and monologue readings, and we will be sharing those with all of you through our website and social media. We are also looking to do our annual Cope 24 Hour Play festival in a safe manner and to develop more “virtual” theater to bring you throughout the summer months.

Lastly, we would like to hear from you! Whether you are a volunteer, a subscriber, someone who comes once in a while, long-time fan or new friend, it is very important that we understand what you are thinking at this time when it comes to deciding the “right time” to open our doors once again. We are asking you to complete a short survey. This survey is part of a state-wide initiative to provide valuable information to the Governor’s Office, DE Division of the Arts, and other state groups to help sustain all performing arts. We would greatly appreciate it if you could complete the survey by June 30 in order to help us help you and state-wide arts. Please follow the link below to the survey. Thanks so very much for you continued support of live theater and the Chapel Street Players!

Sincerely,
Board of Directors, Chapel Street Players
