Palais K, a staged reading
January 1, 1970 @ 12:00 am
Free
A young woman and her disconnected self struggle to regain control of her life before the past overwhelms the future. Her enterprising husband, meanwhile, has a complex relationship with the maid — alongside demons of his own. Helping/not helping are the artist and persnickety architect policing the Viennese Art Nouveau décor of the couple’s new, marble mansion.
Set in eastern Europe in the era of Klimt and Freud, Palais K is a glittering, magical drama-komedie about class, unacknowledged loss and personal freedom. Oh, and art.
