Auditions for a 1938 radio drama. Act 1 will be The War of the Worlds (by Howard E. Koch; based on the novel by H.G.Wells (Playscripts version)). Act 2 will be selected readings by Edgar Allen Poe.
Director: Brian M. Touchette
Ass’t Director: Susan Boudreaux
Audition details:
CSP is seeking a diverse cast (age, gender, ethnicity, body types) ages 18 and up. Between 9 and 15 actors will be cast. The audition will include cold readings from portions of The War of the Worlds as well as selected Poe Readings (selections will be from Bells and Tell Tale Heart – actors will be asked to read a short selection from one or the other). Actors will be auditioning solo – without other actors on stage. Most roles will require the ability to play multiple characters/voice changes. While accents are not required, if you are able to do any accents let the audition committee know.
Head shots and resumes are not required. You may fill out an audition form and bring it with you ( see the end of the notice )
Actors may park behind the theatre but know that you may be blocked in. Do NOT park in the Newark Shopping Center.
Pre-Cast: The actor doing live sound effects has been pre-cast.
Show details:
The show will be performed with scrips in hand (no memorization will be needed). You may be cast in a single role or multiple roles. Actors will perform in both Act I (The War of the Worlds) and Act II (Poe readings).
Rehearsals and show dates:
Oct 17, 18, 19 @ 8pm / Oct 19 @ 2pm
There will be a limited number of rehearsals (fewer than 10 – including tech). As this is an ensemble show, all actors must be able to attend rehearsals (director will do his best to be flexible given cast conflicts). Rehearsals will start in early October. There will be two mandatory build/paint days.
